Rev. Nathaniel Kenneth Elam, age 77 years, 10 months, and 8 days, of Stearns, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Patrick and Bro. Wayne Inman officiating. Burial followed in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery.
He was born October 4, 1935 in Big Richland, Knox County, Kentucky to Walter Elam and Ida (Owens) Elam. Kenneth was a member of the East Apple Tree United Baptist Church. During his life, Ken served as Pastor for the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church and the White Church in Pine Knot. He spent his life working as a HVAC Technician and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, Clinton Elam, and sisters, Pina Gilbert, Joy Watson, Norma Warren, Lola Dupee, and Irene Keene.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Leuna "Lee" (Vanover) Elam, whom he married September 5, 1953, of Stearns, Kentucky; a son, Kenneth Michael "Mike" Elam and wife, Karen, of Stearns, Kentucky; a daughter, Cathy Darlene King and husband, Jerry, of Stearns, Kentucky; a brother, James "Jim" Elam; sisters, Ethel Barnes and Tina Jones; grandchildren, Kenneth Michael "Mikey" Elam, Jr., Jerry King, Trevor King, and Jaimee King; and great-grandchildren, Samuel Elam, Hallie Strunk, Garrett Strunk, Rylee King, Taylor King, and Preslee King.
