Obituary for Thelma Wright (Chitwood)
Thelma Chitwood Wright age 91 years, 5 months, and 22 days of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Stearns, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Episcopal Church Home.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery.
She was born November 18, 1924 in Oneida, Tennessee to Lewis Chitwood and Sadie (Stephens) Chitwood. Thelma retired from the McCreary County Board of Education after devoting 44 1/2 years to teaching. She enjoyed being involved with her family, spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo and bowling. Thelma was also a big UK fan and enjoyed watching UK basketball games.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Edna Prater.
Survivors include her son, Mike Wright and wife, Relda, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Bryan Wright and wife, Maggie, and Ashley Wright; great-grandchildren, Luke, Sarah, and Michael; and a nephew, Steve Prater of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. Thelma Wright.
