U.G. "Dick"  Taylor
Rev. U.G. "Dick" Taylor age 87 years, 2 months, and 4 days of Parkers Lake, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Center in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Greene and Bro. Glen Warman officiating. Burial followed in the Farris Cemetery.
He was born June 30, 1926 in Parkers Lake, Kentucky to Tilford Taylor and Maggie (Owens) Taylor. Dick was the Pastor of the First Church of Jesus Christ in Wiborg, Kentucky for 53 years before retiring in 2008. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army. Dick began his life long career with the Kentucky State Highway Department as a ferry operator at the Cumberland Falls and retired as a heavy equipment operator after 40 years of service. Dick loved God, loved his country, and he loved his family. One of his greatest joys was sharing his love of music with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Locie (Jones) Taylor, his son, Marshall Taylor, and a grandson, Daniel Maxwell.
Survivors include his six children, Audrey Raley of Belleair Beach, Florida, Connie Taylor and husband, Owen, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Phillip Taylor and wife, Billie, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Dawn Winchester and husband, Lee, of Somerset, Kentucky, Joe Taylor of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, and Lisa Mitchell and husband, Steve, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Dick was born into a large family of twelve and is also survived by one brother, Montie Taylor of Loveland, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Everyone who knew Dick will have a memory and a special story to tell that is sure to bring a smile. His compassion, humble nature and kindness will be his lasting legacy.
